Part 1: Making Prot’s Prot gill-t free mince protein balls
Ingredients:
1 package of Prot’s Prot gill-t free mince
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional, for added flavor)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil for cooking
Instructions:
Step 1 - In a mixing bowl, combine Prot’s gill-t free mince, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, nutritional yeast (optional), lemon juice, soy sauce or tamari, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly combined.
Step 2 - Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
Step 3 - Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the pan and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Step 4 - Once cooked, remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside. They are now ready to be added to the Aglio Olio.
Part 2: Making Aglio Olio
Ingredients:
8 ounces spaghetti or your preferred pasta
4 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust according to your spice preference)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Lemon wedges (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
Step 1 - Cook the spaghetti or pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the cooked pasta and set aside.
Step 2 - In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 3 - Add the cooked spaghetti or pasta to the pan with the garlic and red pepper flakes. Toss well to coat the pasta with the infused oil. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is heated through.
Step 4 - Season with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes if you prefer more or less spice.
Step 5 - Add the plant-based mince protein balls to the pan and gently toss them with the pasta.
Step 6 - Remove from heat and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
Step 7 - Serve the Aglio Olio with plant-based mince meatballs immediately. Optionally, serve with lemon wedges for squeezing over the pasta for added freshness.
Note: Feel free to customize the recipe by adding additional vegetables like sautéed spinach or cherry tomatoes to the Aglio Olio, according to your taste preferences.
